Forum Title: Sound Traveling From Restroom
Hi, I'm new to your forums and am glad I found you, I need some input: I am working on a remodel. It is a business with a metal ceiling covered by acoustical tile drop ceiling. The problem is the sound from the men's restroom out in the hall travels through the other rooms on the floor. The noise carries so bad that from 30 feet away, on the other side of 2 separate rooms, you may as well be in the room with them when they are urinating. There is a vent fan right above the toilet and it makes no difference if the fan is off or on. We have tried building a wall up to the ceiling and insulating it with no difference in sound. The owner wants to put soundproofing on the walls in the other rooms. I don't believe it will solve the problem since the noise is traveling across the metal in the ceiling. Any suggestions on trapping the noise and keeping it in the men's room?
